Synopsis

To pay for an expensive cell phone bill, teenager Jill Johnson takes a babysitting job at an isolated mansion. After the children go to bed, she receives a series of disturbing calls from a stranger who seems to know her every move. When police trace the calls to the house, Jill must find the intruder and protect the children before the night turns deadly.

Factoids & Trivia

• The film is a remake of the 1979 thriller of the same name, but it mainly expands the original's famous opening babysitting sequence into a feature-length story.

• Principal photography took place in California from January 1 through February 28, 2005. Locations included Culver Studios, Bellarmine-Jefferson High School, Franklin Canyon Park, Signal Hill, and Running Springs.

• The Mandrakis house was created using separate locations. Its exterior was built at an unused reservoir, while the interior scenes were filmed on a studio set.

• The voice heard during the threatening phone calls was provided by a different performer from the actor who physically portrayed the stranger. The production made the distinction to pair a suitable voice with the character's imposing appearance.

• Camilla Belle performed most of Jill's stunts herself. She was injured during production, including incidents involving a wooden bridge and a glass window.

• Several versions of Jill's peach-colored shirt were made for continuity. One was specially designed with a waterproof, wet-look finish for scenes involving water.
