After the death of Meister Eder, Pumuckl remains in the workshop with Eder's younger relative, Ferdinand. When the mischievous kobold accidentally becomes visible, a pair of circus magicians learns of his existence and abducts him, hoping to use his invisibility in their act. Pumuckl soon turns the circus upside down with a series of disruptive pranks.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The film was produced by Infafilm in cooperation with Bayerischer Rundfunk.
  • Filming took place in Munich from September 14 to October 27, 1999, several years before the film's German theatrical release on October 16, 2003.
  • The story introduces Ferdinand Eder as a younger relative of the original Meister Eder, allowing the character's workshop and Pumuckl's adventures to continue after the death of Gustl Bayrhammer, who had played Meister Eder in the original television series.
  • Hans Clarin, who had voiced Pumuckl for decades, could no longer perform the demanding voice because of problems with his vocal cords. He instead played Ferdinand Eder, while Kai Taschner provided Pumuckl's voice.
  • The 91-minute production was filmed in 35mm with Eastmancolor and Dolby SRD sound.
  • The German Film and Media Review Board awarded the film the rating "valuable."
  • According to film industry figures, the film recorded 229,091 theatrical admissions in Germany by 2016.
