Factoids & Trivia

  • Released on November 4, 2005, the film was Walt Disney Feature Animation's first fully computer-animated feature.
  • Disney promoted the film as a technical milestone for the studio. It was also among the first major theatrical releases presented in digital 3-D, with specially equipped theaters showing the 3-D version.
  • The project began as a father-daughter story featuring a female Chicken Little. The character was later changed to a boy, and the story was substantially reworked around baseball, family expectations, and an alien invasion.
  • Chicken Little was loosely inspired by the folk tale commonly known in the United States as "Chicken Little" or "Henny Penny." Disney had previously adapted the story as a 1943 animated short.
  • Fish Out of Water's underwater vocal effects were created by editor Dan Molina, who produced the sounds through a tube connected to a tank of water.
  • The film became the last Walt Disney Animation Studios feature released on VHS.
  • A planned sequel, titled "Chicken Little 2: The Ugly Duckling Story," was developed but ultimately canceled.
