Synopsis

Former professional quarterback Paul Crewe is sent to a maximum-security prison after a reckless incident. The warden orders him to assemble a team of inmates for a rigged exhibition game against the guards. With the help of a tough coach and a determined group of prisoners, Crewe turns the forced spectacle into a chance for resistance, redemption, and one unforgettable football showdown.

• The film is a remake of the 1974 sports comedy The Longest Yard.

• Burt Reynolds, who played quarterback Paul Crewe in the original film, appears here as Coach Nate Scarborough. His character wears number 22, the same number Reynolds wore in the 1974 movie.

• The production used the abandoned Old Main section of the New Mexico State Penitentiary in Santa Fe. The location was associated with the major prison riot that took place there in February 1980.

• The football lineup included former NFL players, professional wrestlers, and other athletes, helping the game sequences achieve a more authentic physical presence.

• Reynolds insisted on taking a hit himself during a touchdown sequence instead of using a stunt double. The collision was completed in one take, and the footage showing him being helped away afterward was not staged.
