Synopsis

FBI agent Gracie Hart is no longer working undercover after becoming the Bureau's public spokesperson. When pageant winner Cheryl Frasier and longtime host Stan Fields are kidnapped in Las Vegas, Gracie ignores orders to stay out of the investigation. Paired with a skeptical new partner, she returns to fieldwork, confronting criminals, media attention, and the uneasy demands of celebrity.

• Sandra Bullock also served as a producer, making the project a sequel and a behind-the-scenes responsibility for her.

• Bullock and writer Marc Lawrence began joking about sequel ideas while working together on Two Weeks Notice. Some of those ideas eventually became the basis for this film.

• Principal photography began in Las Vegas on April 12, 2004. The production spent about five weeks in southern Nevada before moving to Los Angeles and later New York.

• Approximately half of the movie's scenes were scheduled to be filmed in Las Vegas, including locations at the Venetian resort, Treasure Island, the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, and the former Klondike Hotel and Casino.

• Treasure Island's Sirens of TI pirate show was filmed for the movie and was reportedly closed to the public during production. It had not previously been featured in a film.

• The FBI headquarters seen in the movie was represented by the Lloyd D. George Federal District Courthouse in Las Vegas.

• An abandoned storyline from the first Miss Congeniality involving the death of Gracie Hart's mother was incorporated into the sequel.

• The airport sequence includes a visible poster for the original Miss Congeniality, creating an intentional in-film reference to the earlier movie.

• The film includes brief appearances by Dolly Parton, Jesse James, and Octavia Spencer, with Spencer appearing under her real first name.
