Factoids & Trivia
- Production stalled after 54 days of principal photography when the script was ordered to undergo a major rewrite. Extensive reshoots followed, and approximately 70 percent of the originally filmed material was discarded.
- The overhaul changed the story, removed several characters, and caused scheduling conflicts that led to multiple cast departures and replacements.
- Rick Baker, the makeup-effects artist known for his work on *An American Werewolf in London*, originally designed practical werewolf effects for the film. The final production instead relied heavily on computer-generated effects.
- The film was originally intended for release on August 8, 2003, but its troubled production delayed the theatrical opening until February 25, 2005.
- The theatrical version was released with a PG-13 rating. The US DVD also included an unrated version that runs about two minutes longer.
- The film includes a cameo by Craig Kilborn and a storyline involving his talk show. By the time *Cursed* reached theaters, Kilborn had already left the program and had been replaced by Craig Ferguson.
- The movie reunited Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson, who had previously collaborated on the *Scream* films. Despite that connection, *Cursed* received generally negative reviews and performed below expectations at the box office.
