Synopsis

After Terry Benedict tracks down Danny Ocean's crew and demands repayment with interest, the team reunites and heads to Europe. With two weeks to settle the debt, they attempt a series of ambitious thefts while being pursued by Europol agent Isabel Lahiri and challenged by the elegant rival thief known as the Night Fox. Their schemes ultimately become a contest of deception, loyalty, and reputation.

Factoids & Trivia

• The script was reworked after Julia Roberts became pregnant with twins. The change was incorporated into the story, allowing Tess Ocean's pregnancy to become part of the team's con.

• Tess's impersonation of Julia Roberts is one of the film's most overtly self-referential jokes. The sequence becomes even more meta when Bruce Willis appears as himself and recognizes the supposed actress.

• Vincent Cassel performed the physical movements for the Night Fox's famous laser-dance sequence himself. Cassel's background in capoeira helped him handle the dance-like martial-arts choreography, while the laser effects were added in post-production.

• The production used an unusually broad collection of locations, including Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Monte Carlo, Lake Como, Sicily, Chicago, Atlantic City, and Las Vegas. Dutch locations included Haarlem railway station and The Hague City Hall.

• Several European interiors were recreated or adapted for filming in the United States, allowing the production to combine location photography with large-scale stage sets.

• The film was released in the United States on December 10, 2004. Although its reviews were mixed, it became a substantial commercial success and was followed by Ocean's Thirteen in 2007.
