Factoids & Trivia
- The film was released theatrically on March 26, 2004, following the success of the 2002 live-action adaptation.
- Filming began in Vancouver on April 14, 2003.
- The sequel deliberately brought several recognizable monsters from the original animated series into live action, including the Black Knight, Captain Cutler, the Miner 49er, the Tar Monster, the Pterodactyl Ghost and the 10,000-Volt Ghost.
- Screenwriter James Gunn revealed in 2024 that the original title was "Scooby-Doo Unleashed."
- A third film was planned but canceled after the sequel performed less strongly than the first. Gunn later described the proposed story as an investigation in Scotland in which the supposedly dangerous monsters were actually victims of human manipulation.
- The costumes displayed in the Criminology Museum were designed to be fully wearable, with accompanying plaques providing details about their animated-series counterparts.
- Linda Cardellini's line about Velma's leather outfit making a farting noise was an ad-lib.
- Two tie-in video games were released in 2004: a 3D point-and-click adventure for computers and a 2D beat-'em-up platformer for the Game Boy Advance.
- After the end credits, Scooby-Doo appears playing a "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed" game on a Game Boy Advance.
