Synopsis

Aspiring songwriter Violet Sanford leaves New Jersey for New York, hoping to launch a music career. Instead, she finds work at the rowdy Coyote Ugly Saloon, where the bartenders dance on the bar and command attention. As Violet gains confidence, she confronts stage fright, family expectations, workplace rivalries, and the demands of love while pursuing her dream.

• The film was inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert's article "The Muse of the Coyote Ugly Saloon," which described the real New York bar and its bartenders.

• Coyote Ugly was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films for Touchstone Pictures. Made for approximately $45 million, it earned about $113.9 million worldwide.

• LeAnn Rimes supplied the singing voice for Violet's songs. The soundtrack included four songs written by Diane Warren, including "Can't Fight the Moonlight," which became a major international hit.

• Piper Perabo's performance was largely lip-synced to Rimes' recordings. Rimes also appears on screen near the end of the film, turning the fictional performance into a musical crossover moment.
