Synopsis

After moving to a lakeside Vermont home, Claire Spencer begins experiencing strange disturbances and seeing a ghostly young woman. Her husband Norman dismisses her fears as imagination, but Claire's investigation points toward a possible murder and unsettling secrets within their seemingly perfect marriage. As the haunting intensifies, Claire must determine whether the danger comes from the supernatural or from someone much closer to home.

• The story originated with screenwriter Sarah Kernochan, who drew inspiration from a personal paranormal experience. Clark Gregg later substantially reworked the material into the shooting script.

• Production was scheduled during a break in the filming of Cast Away, allowing the same crew to work on this film while Tom Hanks lost weight for his role.

• The house exterior was built in Addison, Vermont, while the interiors were recreated on soundstages in Los Angeles. The location house was used for daytime scenes and was later demolished because it did not meet local building codes.
