Synopsis

Clark Griswold takes his family to Las Vegas after receiving a large work bonus, hoping for a memorable vacation. Instead, gambling, show-business distractions, and Cousin Eddie's unexpected involvement pull the Griswolds in different directions. As Clark loses control of the trip and his money, the family must find a way to reunite before their Vegas adventure leaves them broke and estranged.

• The film was released theatrically in the United States on February 14, 1997, and is the fourth entry in the Vacation film series.

• Much of the production was filmed on location in Las Vegas, including the Mirage, Hoover Dam, Fremont Street, and several casinos and hotels. Filming took place during the summer of 1996.

• The Mirage allowed portions of the resort to be closed for production. The movie prominently features the hotel's casino, pool area, and Siegfried & Roy attraction.

• The Hoover Dam sequence included a stunt in which a double swung on ropes and struck the face of the dam. The stunt was performed hundreds of feet above the dam's power plant.

• The scenes set at Wayne Newton's home were filmed at his actual Las Vegas residence, Casa de Shenandoah.

• The film marked the feature-film debut of Marisol Nichols and was the last theatrical movie appearance of Sid Caesar.

• Christie Brinkley returned as the mysterious woman in the red Ferrari, reprising her recurring role from the original Vacation.

• Steve Wynn, then the owner and developer of the Mirage, appears briefly as a floor supervisor in the casino.

• The directions given by the Mirage receptionist are accurate to the resort's actual layout.

• The Griswold house is the same exterior used for the family home in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. A neighboring house also retains a recognizable second-floor window from that earlier film.
