Synopsis

Restless Minneapolis car-rental employee Martha impulsively travels to London, where she separately meets three Englishmen who happen to be lifelong friends. Each man becomes convinced he has found a romantic connection, while none realizes the others have also met her. As their overlapping courtships unfold, Martha's arrival threatens to expose the weaknesses beneath the friends' long-standing relationships.

• The film was released in the United Kingdom under the title "Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence." The shorter title "The Very Thought of You" was used in the United States.

• The screenplay was written by Peter Morgan, who later became known for screenplays and television projects centered on political and historical subjects.

• Although much of the story takes place in London, production also filmed in Minneapolis, at Stansted Airport in Essex, and at several London locations, including Battersea Park and the South Bank.

• The soundtrack combines contemporary alternative and electronic music with older pop, including songs by Texas, Roni Size, Morcheeba, Echo & the Bunnymen, and Dusty Springfield.

• The American release was edited by Miramax to remove profanity and obtain a PG-13 rating.
