Synopsis

When Tigger begins to wonder whether he is the only tiger in the Hundred Acre Wood, he sets out to find his family tree and discover other tiggers. His friends try to help while Tigger's energetic bouncing causes trouble throughout the search. Along the way, he learns that family is not defined only by shared stripes or ancestry, but also by love and friendship.

Factoids & Trivia

• The film was originally intended for direct-to-video release in 2001, but Disney chairman Michael Eisner reportedly changed plans after hearing the Sherman Brothers' songs. It was released theatrically in the United States on February 11, 2000.

• The Sherman Brothers wrote the songs for the film, marking their return to feature-film work for Disney after more than two decades. It was also their final film project together.

• "The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers," first written for the 1968 featurette "Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day," provides the central idea behind Tigger's search for other members of his kind.

• The Tigger Movie was the first theatrical Winnie the Pooh feature built around a completely original story rather than assembled from previously released short films.

• Much of the animation was produced by Walt Disney Animation Japan. Production began in April 1998.

• Paul Winchell, Tigger's original voice, recorded an early session for the project but was replaced when Disney felt his voice had become too raspy for the role. Jim Cummings, who had already performed Tigger in later Disney productions, handled the character for the finished film.

• The original theatrical trailer and some television spots reportedly used Third Eye Blind's "Semi-Charmed Life." The song was later removed because its subject matter was considered unsuitable for the family audience.
