Synopsis

Rachel Lang, a troubled teenager with telekinetic abilities, is haunted by the suicide of her best friend, who was exploited by popular athletes at school. When Rachel becomes involved with Jesse, she is targeted by the same privileged clique. Their cruel scheme pushes her toward a violent breaking point, forcing Rachel to confront both her powers and the family connection linking her to Carrie White.

Factoids & Trivia

• The project began as an unrelated screenplay titled The Curse. Producers later recognized its similarities to Carrie and reworked it into a sequel. It was also briefly known as Say You're Sorry before The Rage was selected as the final title.

• Filming took place in and around Charlotte, North Carolina, during the spring of 1998.

• Emily Bergl made her feature-film debut as Rachel Lang. Her performance earned a Saturn Award nomination for Best Performance by a Younger Actor.

• Amy Irving was the only performer from the 1976 film to return in a substantial role. Sissy Spacek declined a cameo, but allowed footage from the earlier film to be used in flashbacks.

• The climactic party sequence used real glass broken by air blowers. Emily Bergl was reportedly cut during multiple takes of the scene, and later shots avoided showing her injuries from behind.
