Synopsis

After a train carrying Russian nuclear warheads is sabotaged, one weapon disappears and a deadly conspiracy takes shape. A determined U.S. Army colonel and a civilian nuclear specialist race across Europe and the United States to locate the missing bomb and identify its intended target. Their investigation leads to a terrorist plot that threatens catastrophic destruction in New York City.

• The Peacemaker was the first film distributed by DreamWorks Pictures, the studio founded by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David Geffen.

• The screenplay was adapted from Leslie and Andrew Cockburn's nonfiction book One Point Safe, which examined the security risks surrounding the former Soviet Union's nuclear arsenal.

• Although the story travels through several countries, much of the production took place in Slovakia. Additional filming was carried out in New York City, Philadelphia, and North Macedonia.

• George Clooney performed most of his own stunts. He learned both stunt driving and how to rappel from a helicopter for the production.
