Synopsis

In a rundown Los Angeles hotel inhabited by outsiders, Tom Tom becomes devoted to the mysterious Eloise. When fellow resident Izzy dies after falling from the roof, the hotel comes under investigation. Detective Skinner suspects murder, forcing the residents to confront their secrets while Tom Tom's idealized view of love collides with the troubled reality around him.

Factoids & Trivia

• The film was initially conceived by Bono, who also contributed to the screenplay and produced the project.

• Filming took place in the real Rosslyn Million Dollar Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, as well as on the surrounding streets. Production was completed in the spring of 1999.

• The film's music was created by Bono, Brian Eno, Jon Hassell, and Daniel Lanois. The soundtrack also includes U2 material and songs performed by other artists.

• U2's official site reported that the story began with an idea Bono had while the band was in Los Angeles during the Joshua Tree era.

• The film received the Silver Bear - Jury Grand Prix at the 2000 Berlin International Film Festival.

• A 4K restoration was completed in 2021. The original camera negative was scanned at 5K, and the restored version premiered internationally at the Sarajevo Film Festival on August 15, 2021.
