Synopsis

In the rural American South, Celie endures years of abuse, poverty, and separation from the people she loves. Her life begins to change when she forms important bonds with other women, including the outspoken Sofia and the independent Shug Avery. Through friendship, self-discovery, and resilience, Celie gradually finds her voice and reclaims control over her own life.
