Synopsis

Commitment-phobic businessman Jimmie Shannon learns that he will inherit $100 million only if he marries before his 30th birthday. After his longtime girlfriend rejects his proposal, Jimmie races through San Francisco trying to find a bride before the deadline. His desperate search brings former girlfriends, friends, opportunists, and hundreds of unexpected brides into a frantic romantic comedy of errors.

• The film is a modern remake of Buster Keaton's 1925 silent comedy Seven Chances, retaining the original story's famous pursuit by a crowd of prospective brides.

• The Bachelor was filmed in San Francisco, including some areas also used by Keaton for Day Dreams (1922).

• Several of the brides seen chasing Jimmie in the finale were male extras wearing drag.

• Production reportedly ran short of money while preparing the climactic bride sequence. The scene was almost reduced in scale, but numerous wedding dresses were donated at the last minute.

• The character name "Sanzel" refers to screenwriter Steve Cohen's childhood friend Ken Sanzel.
