Synopsis

Ten years after the Battle of Naboo, Senator Padme Amidala survives an assassination attempt and is placed under Jedi protection. Obi-Wan Kenobi's investigation uncovers a secret clone army and a growing Separatist conspiracy, while his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, escorts Padme to Naboo and falls into a forbidden romance. Their intertwined missions lead to Geonosis, where the first major battle of the Clone Wars erupts.

Factoids & Trivia

• Attack of the Clones was the first blockbuster feature produced entirely through a digital camera and computer-based filmmaking workflow, helping accelerate the transition from photochemical film to digital cinema.

• Principal photography took place primarily at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney between June and September 2000. Additional location work was carried out in Tunisia, Spain, Italy, and other locations.

• The film's working title was Jar Jar's Great Adventure, an in-joke referencing the backlash surrounding The Phantom Menace character.

• Yoda was portrayed as a fully computer-generated character throughout the film. This allowed him to move, leap, and participate in the lightsaber duel with Count Dooku.

• The droid factory sequence was added after production because the developing cut needed a faster-paced action passage. Its live-action material was filmed in approximately four and a half hours.

• The exterior of the Naboo palace was filmed at the Plaza de Espana in Seville, Spain, a location also associated with other major film productions.
