Synopsis

Jobe, a disembodied consciousness trapped in cyberspace, seeks a way to access every computer on Earth and impose his will on humanity. He reaches out to Peter, his former friend, but Peter recognizes the danger and turns to computer engineer Benjamin Trace for help. Together, they attempt to stop Jobe's plan before cyberspace and the real world become permanently controlled by his malevolent intelligence.

• The film was released in the United States on January 12, 1996, by New Line Cinema.

• Its alternate subtitle is "Jobe's War." An earlier promotional announcement for the sequel used the title "Lawnmower Man 2: Mindfire" and suggested a 1994 release, but that title and date were abandoned.

• Austin O'Brien was the only cast member from the first film to return for the sequel.

• Despite the futuristic setting, cast members reportedly donated old 1980s computers for use as set dressing to help keep production costs down.

• The producers reportedly locked the writer out of the editing room while reshaping the film toward a teenage male audience.

• The sequel treats the first film's ending loosely, effectively functioning as a stand-alone continuation despite bringing back the character of Jobe.
