Synopsis

Fresh out of the Cincinnati police academy, Jeffrey Cole is assigned to infiltrate the criminal organization of Dwayne Gittens, a feared drug lord known as God. As Cole gains Gittens' confidence and rises within the organization, the undercover role begins to overwhelm his sense of identity, loyalty, and morality. The deeper he goes, the harder it becomes to return to ordinary police work.

• The film was released in the United States on August 25, 1999, and runs approximately 95 minutes.

• Although the story is set in Cincinnati, filming took place in Toronto and Milton, Ontario, as well as along the Ohio River in Kentucky. Production ran from November 2 through December 18, 1998.

• The soundtrack, titled In Too Deep - Music from the Dimension Motion Picture, was released in August 1999. Its title track was performed by Nas and Nature.

• The soundtrack also includes prominent late-1990s hip-hop and R&B artists, including Mobb Deep, Lil' Kim, Method Man, Jermaine Dupri, and 50 Cent.

• The pool-stick sequence was reportedly not in the original screenplay. According to Omar Epps, LL Cool J suggested the idea as a way to reveal more of his character's brutality and range.
