Synopsis
Sandra Dunmore is trapped in a volatile marriage to alcoholic advertising executive Jake while carrying on an affair with his brother, Ben. When Ben disappears, detectives begin untangling a web of adultery, deceit, blackmail, and murder. As rival schemes collide, Sandra, Peggy, and the men around them pursue money and survival through a deliberately twisted neo-noir mystery.

- The screenplay began as a submission by Ron Peer to the 1995 Austin Film Festival's Heart of Film Screenplay Competition, where it reached the semifinalist stage. The script was subsequently optioned and developed for production.
- The film premiered at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival in a special screening out of competition, more than a year before its US theatrical release on April 16, 1999.
- With an estimated budget of $20 million, the film earned approximately $1.94 million in the United States and Canada.
