Synopsis

Navy intelligence officer Jordan O'Neil is selected as the first woman to enter an elite special-operations training program. Faced with hostile instructors, skeptical male trainees, and political pressure from Washington, she refuses special treatment and endures a punishing regimen designed to make her quit. Her determination is tested further when personal rivalries and a dangerous field mission challenge her place in the unit.

• Demi Moore and several cast members completed a military-style mini boot camp in Florida to prepare for the training sequences.

• Viggo Mortensen prepared separately for his role by observing training at Naval Base Coronado and speaking with active and retired Navy SEALs.

• Much of the training footage was filmed at Camp Blanding, a Florida National Guard facility near Jacksonville.

• A beach scene was filmed in Annapolis, Maryland, with the production using the nearby Annapolis Sailing School as a staging area.

• Moore shaved her head for the role, making the haircut one of the film's most recognizable images. Contemporary coverage also noted the extensive physical conditioning she undertook for the part.
