Synopsis

New York architect Alex Whitman arrives in Las Vegas to oversee a nightclub project and spends an impulsive night with photographer Isabel Fuentes. When Isabel reappears three months later and reveals that she is pregnant, Alex proposes. Their sudden marriage forces the cautious New Yorker and the fiercely family-oriented Isabel to confront cultural differences, conflicting expectations, and the meaning of commitment.

• Released by Columbia Pictures on February 14, 1997, the film gave Matthew Perry his first major big-screen starring role after his breakthrough on Friends.

• The story was inspired by the real-life relationship of producer Doug Draizin and co-producer Anna-Maria Davis. Their romance, pregnancy, and marriage provided the basic premise, although the movie significantly fictionalized their experiences.

• John Bennett Perry, who plays Alex's father, was Matthew Perry's real-life father.

• The film was shot in several Western locations, including Las Vegas, the Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon, Santa Fe, and the Valley of Fire.

• A painted Arizona-Nevada border line was added to the Hoover Dam roadway for a scene. Local officials reportedly left it in place after filming, although it was gone by 2005.

• The title comes from the opening lyric of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love," which is used during the wedding sequence and over the closing credits.

• Matthew Perry later said that a jet-ski accident during production led to pain medication and contributed to his addiction. He also identified Fools Rush In as his favorite film among those he made.
