Synopsis

A solitary intelligence agent known as the Eye becomes obsessed with Joanna Eris, a woman who travels across the United States leaving murdered lovers behind. Rather than expose her, he secretly follows and protects her, convinced that he can save her from herself. As his surveillance turns into delusion, their increasingly destructive relationship leads them toward a bleak and emotionally charged confrontation.

• The film is based on Marc Behm's 1980 cult noir novel and is also a remake of Claude Miller's 1983 French thriller Deadly Circuit.

• Ashley Judd actively pursued the role of Joanna Eris. The part had originally been imagined for an older actress before Judd's persistence changed the casting plans.

• The production is examined in the 2000 behind-the-scenes documentary Killing Priscilla, which follows the project from pre-production through marketing and documents the strain surrounding its making.

• Although the story moves through several American locations, much of the production was filmed in Montreal. A continuity error leaves Quebec license plates visible during a scene meant to take place in Washington, D.C.
