Synopsis

In 1962, a scientist mistakes a plane crash for the start of nuclear war and seals his pregnant wife and unborn child inside a fallout shelter. Thirty-five years later, their son Adam emerges into a radically changed Los Angeles to find supplies and a potential wife. His sheltered upbringing, old-fashioned manners, and optimistic worldview collide with the cynical modern world.

• The screenplay originated with newcomer Bill Kelly. Renny Harlin's production company optioned Kelly's script before Hugh Wilson became involved.

• Filming took place in Southern California from January 12 through April 2, 1998, even though the film was released in 1999.

• Los Angeles locations included Union Station, Topanga Canyon Boulevard, and a house on Canyon Drive in Hollywood that served as Eve's home.
