Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She became one of the most recognizable figures in 21st-century popular entertainment by moving from Disney Channel stardom to a commercially successful and stylistically restless recording career. Her work has ranged from pop rock and dance-pop to country pop, psychedelic pop, glam rock, and contemporary adult pop.

Cyrus was born in Franklin, Tennessee, and grew up in a musical family led by her father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. She began acting as a child and gained her breakthrough role in 2006, when she was cast as Miley Stewart in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana. The character lived a double life as an ordinary teenager and the famous singer Hannah Montana, a concept that allowed Cyrus to combine acting, singing, touring, and merchandising. The series became a major television success and produced several soundtrack albums, while Cyrus became a leading teen idol of her generation.

Her first major solo release, Meet Miley Cyrus, appeared in 2007 as part of the double album Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus. The latter included collaborations with Joan Jett, Billy Idol, and Stevie Nicks, emphasizing Cyrus' interest in vocal performance and rock tradition.

In 2023, Cyrus released Endless Summer Vacation, led by the single "Flowers." The song became one of her defining hits and earned her first Grammy Awards in 2024 for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. She also received further recognition for the collaboration "II Most Wanted" with Beyonce.
