Biography

Shaun Baker is an English DJ, electronic musician and record producer who has built his career in Germany and on the international club circuit. Originally from England and based in Paderborn, he is associated with energetic club, trance, house and Euro-dance productions. His work combines DJ performance, production, remixing and entertainment, and he has remained active across several phases of European dance music.

Baker began DJing in 1985, initially working in and around the club scene while also developing a background in breakdancing and professional dance performance. During his early years he was involved in projects released under names including K.K. System, Santoshi and 3 Years 3 Days. His experience as a performer helped shape a style focused on direct audience response, strong rhythmic hooks and the high-energy atmosphere of the dance floor.

In 1997, Baker began producing music under his own name. Early releases included "On a Helium Trip," "Back in Town," "Pizza," "The Law" and "Somebody." These tracks established his presence in the European club market, particularly in the nightlife scenes of Mallorca and Ibiza. His productions from this period were often built around driving electronic rhythms, prominent synthesizer lines and a playful, extroverted sense of presentation.

A key part of Baker's career has been his long-running partnership with producer Sebastian Wolter. Together they developed a series of successful dance projects, including "Xplode 2," "Push" and "Power." "Xplode 2" became a major club success in Germany, while "Power" extended the formula with vocal elements and reached dance audiences in Germany, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. In 2007, Baker and Wolter established the Uptunes label, creating an independent platform for their own productions and related releases.

Their collaboration with Danish duo Laid Back brought Baker one of his most visible projects. Baker and Wolter reworked "Bakerman," a song originally associated with Laid Back, and the new version became a strong performer in the German dance market. The project also connected their video work with the original clip directed by Lars von Trier, which was licensed for use with the updated version. The single reached number 39 on the German sales chart and performed strongly in several dance charts.

Baker's other notable singles include "V.I.P.," "Hey Hi Hello," "Could You, Would You, Should You," "Give!" and "Explode." The latter also became known internationally through later versions and related dance productions. In 2008, Baker released his debut album, titled *1*, bringing together his club singles and vocal-oriented material. He subsequently continued to issue singles, collaborations and remixes, while appearing on numerous European dance compilations.

Although his recording work has given him chart recognition, Baker has consistently presented himself as more than a studio producer. He continues to tour as a DJ and entertainer, maintaining a career that links the club culture of the 1980s and 1990s with contemporary electronic dance music. His later catalog, including the album *Bakerama*, reflects his continuing commitment to accessible, performance-driven dance music.
