Dannii Minogue (born October 20, 1971) is an Australian singer, actress, television personality, fashion designer, and presenter. Although often associated with her older sister Kylie Minogue, Dannii has built an independent career across pop music, dance, television, theater, fashion, and entertainment production. Her work is particularly identified with polished dance-pop and club music, and she has remained a prominent figure in British and Australian popular culture for more than four decades.
Minogue began performing as a child. She appeared on Australian television from the late 1970s and became widely known through the variety program Young Talent Time, where she was a regular cast member during the 1980s. The show established her as a singer and performer while also providing an early platform for her interest in fashion. In 1988, she designed a clothing range for the Australian retailer Kmart, an early example of the business and style interests that would later become part of her public identity.
Acting brought Minogue further attention. She played Emma Jackson on the Australian soap opera Home and Away in 1989 and 1990, a role that helped make her internationally recognizable. She also appeared in the feature film Secrets and later worked in theater, including a role in the London production of Notre-Dame de Paris. During the 1990s, she presented British television programs and appeared as a host on Top of the Pops, demonstrating a versatility that allowed her to move between music, acting, and television without being confined to one medium.
Her recording career began in earnest with the album Dannii in Australia and its international version, Love and Kisses, released in 1991. The record introduced a bright, commercially styled pop sound and produced several successful singles, including "Love and Kisses", "Success", and "Jump to the Beat". Her second album, Get Into You (1993), continued in a pop and dance direction, while Girl (1997) marked a more deliberate move toward club-oriented production. Its lead single, "All I Wanna Do", became one of her defining songs and reached the top five in the United Kingdom.
Minogue's strongest musical period followed a reinvention around electronic dance music. The single "Who Do You Love Now", released with Riva in 2001, became a major international club hit. It was followed by Neon Nights in 2003, an album built around sleek electro-pop and house influences. The singles "Put the Needle on It", "I Begin to Wonder", and "Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling" gave her a sequence of British hits, with "I Begin to Wonder" reaching number two. The album established her reputation as a durable dance artist rather than simply a mainstream pop singer.
Later releases included Club Disco (2007), further singles with the Soul Seekerz, Jason Nevins, and other dance producers, and the compilation The Hits & Beyond. She returned to the spotlight through recordings such as "Summer of Love", "100 Degrees", a duet with Kylie, and "We Could Be the One", the theme song for the BBC dating series I Kissed a Boy.
Television has occupied much of Minogue's later career. She served as a judge on The X Factor UK, Australia's Got Talent, and The X Factor Australia, and was a panelist on The Masked Singer Australia. In the 2020s, she became the host of the BBC's I Kissed A... dating formats, including I Kissed a Boy and I Kissed a Girl. These roles have reinforced her image as an experienced, personable, and adaptable entertainment professional whose career has consistently crossed boundaries between music, television, fashion, and performance.
