Lindsay Dee Lohan (born July 2, 1986) is an American actress, singer, and songwriter whose career has moved between child stardom, teen comedy, independent film, television, and music. She began working as a Ford model at the age of three and appeared in television commercials before turning to acting. Her early television credits included the soap opera Guiding Light and the daytime drama Another World.

Lohan became a film star with The Parent Trap (1998), a Disney remake of the 1961 family comedy. Playing separated identical twins Annie James and Hallie Parker, she demonstrated a natural comic presence and the unusual technical demands of performing opposite a doubles process. The film was a commercial success and established her as one of the most promising young performers of her generation. Disney subsequently cast her in the television films Life-Size (2000) and Get a Clue (2002).

Her transition into teenage roles began with Freaky Friday (2003), in which she played Anna Coleman, a rebellious teenager who switches bodies with her mother, portrayed by Jamie Lee Curtis. The film combined broad comedy with a more emotionally grounded performance from Lohan, and its success greatly expanded her audience. She followed it with Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004), then delivered the performance most closely associated with her career: Cady Heron in Mean Girls (2004). A Prairie Home Companion, directed by Robert Altman, was particularly notable for placing her among an experienced ensemble and allowing her to contribute to a quieter, more naturalistic style of performance. Lohan's career during the late 2000s and early 2010s was affected by intense media scrutiny and a series of professional interruptions. A planned third album, tentatively titled Spirit in the Dark, was never officially released, although the single Bossy appeared in 2008. In 2020, she returned to music with Back to Me, and in 2022 she recorded Jingle Bell Rock for the Netflix film Falling for Christmas.

Lohan returned to leading roles in Netflix romantic comedies, including Falling for Christmas (2022), Irish Wish (2024), and Our Little Secret (2024). In 2025, she reunited with Jamie Lee Curtis as Anna Coleman in Disney's Freakier Friday, returning to the character that had helped define her early film career.
