Rachael Maureen Lampa (born January 8, 1985) is an American contemporary Christian singer, songwriter, record producer, and occasional actress. Known for her powerful, soulful voice and emotionally direct songwriting, she emerged as one of the most visible young performers in Christian pop during the early 2000s. Her music combines polished pop with gospel, rhythm and blues, rock, and acoustic influences.
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Lampa grew up in Louisville, Colorado. She began singing at an early age and performed regularly during her childhood. At 14, she attracted the attention of producer Brent Bourgeois at a Christian music conference in Colorado. The discovery led to interest from several Nashville labels, and she signed with Word Records.
Lampa made her recording debut with *Live for You* in 2000. Released while she was still a teenager, the album established her as a major new voice in contemporary Christian music. The record produced several successful singles, including "Blessed," "Live for You," "God Loves You," and "Shaken." "Blessed" became one of her signature songs and earned her a Dove Award. The album also brought appearances on mainstream television programs and exposure in publications beyond the Christian music press.
Her second album, *Kaleidoscope*, followed in 2002. It expanded her songwriting role and presented a broader pop sound through songs such as "No Greater Love," "I'm All Yours," and "Savior Song." The same year, she released *Blur*, a remix project that reworked material from her first two albums with stronger dance, hip-hop, and electronic elements. Lampa also reached a wider film audience when "If You Believe" appeared on the soundtrack to *A Walk to Remember*.
For her self-titled 2004 album, Lampa took greater creative responsibility, writing or co-writing every song and serving as executive producer. Produced by Tommy Sims, the record moved beyond straightforward Christian pop, incorporating soul, contemporary R&B, retro textures, acoustic arrangements, and pop rock. "When I Fall" became one of its best-known tracks. A greatest-hits collection, *Blessed: The Best of Rachael Lampa*, was issued in 2006.
Lampa also explored screen work, appearing as Sally Hemmings in the faith-based film *Hidden Secrets* (2006). Around the same period, she contributed vocals and songwriting to projects by other artists. She later released the independent EPs *Three Songs for Christmas* and *Human*, the latter marking a quieter period in her recording career.
In 2011, Lampa returned with *All We Need*, led by the single "Remedy." She also competed with the vocal group The Collective on the third season of NBC's *The Sing-Off*. Her work outside her own releases included backing vocals for Jordin Sparks and, from 2015, extensive touring with Hozier. With Hozier, she performed on major television programs and at events including the Grammy Awards and Glastonbury Festival.
Lampa's later career has been characterized by selective releases and a more reflective songwriting approach. Her 2022 single "Perfectly Loved," featuring TobyMac, became a significant comeback success, followed by "Somebody to You" with Andrew Ripp in 2023 and "High Hopes" in 2024. In 2025, she released "For What It's Worth," "Pain Has a Purpose," "Superpowers," and a new version of "Blessed" with longtime friend Stacie Orrico. "Superpowers" was written in connection with her son and became notable for its affirmation of people with Down syndrome and other disabilities. Across her career, Lampa has balanced mainstream Christian-pop visibility with a commitment to faith-centered, compassionate music.
