Biography

Daisy Dee is the stage name of Dutch singer, actress, television presenter and producer Daisy Rollocks, born September 4, 1970, in Curacao, then part of the Netherlands Antilles. She became one of the recognizable female figures of the European dance scene during the 1990s, combining a career as a recording artist with a prominent role in German music television.

Rollocks moved to Europe at the age of eight and later lived in Roermond in the Netherlands. Her entry into the music business came through the club scene. While working at a large nightclub in Geldern, Germany, she made demo recordings and attracted the attention of producers looking for a vocalist for a dance version of Technotronic's "This Beat Is Technotronic." Released in 1990 as MC B. featuring Daisy Dee, the track introduced her to a broader audience and established her within the rapidly expanding Eurodance and hip house market.

Her early solo success came with "Crazy," a dance single that reached the US dance charts in 1991. The same period produced her debut album, Daisy Dee, released by LMR. Her music was built around the energetic production style common to early- and mid-1990s Eurodance, while her vocal performances gave the material a distinct pop presence. She continued recording under her own name and also appeared on collaborative projects, including releases connected with the Daisy Project and other dance acts.

During the middle of the decade, Dee broadened her profile with singles such as "Crazy 96," "Just Jump," "Angel" and "Headbone Connected (Try Me)." She also recorded with groups and producers from the European club circuit, including Alter Ego, Bit Machine and Reggae Roots. Her work during this period was supported by music videos and extensive exposure on dance-oriented television and compilation albums.

Dee's most influential television role began in 1996, when she became the presenter of VIVA's Club Rotation. The weekly program focused on dance, house, techno and related styles, and became an important showcase for the music that defined European club culture at the time. Dee remained associated with the program until 2003, making her familiar to viewers across German-speaking Europe. She also presented other VIVA programming, including Ritmo, and later appeared as an actress in the RTL II soap opera Alle zusammen - jeder fur sich.

In 1997, Dee released "Hey You (Open Up Your Mind)," one of her best-known later singles. The song was produced within the Booya Music circle, the production company she established with Toni Cottura in the late 1990s. Booya Music worked across Eurodance, hip hop, pop and contemporary R&B, contributing to recordings by artists including Nana, the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC and Dee's brother, Pappa Bear. Dee's role in this environment reflected the increasingly interconnected nature of the German dance and pop industries, where performers frequently moved between recording, production, television and live club work.

She returned to the charts around the turn of the millennium with "Love Is the Answer" and "Open Sesame," and later appeared on Starsplash's 2003 single "Fly Away (Owner of Your Heart)." Although her recording output became less frequent afterward, Dee remained connected to dance music through performances, media work and occasional new releases. Her career is notable for spanning the rise of Eurodance from the club circuit to television mainstream, with her work as both an artist and presenter helping define the genre's visibility in 1990s Europe.
