So I'm an amature video DJ and have a fairly large collection of videos (partially thanks to the music video section here), and I was wondering if someone had a program in mind that is useful for organizing music videos.

I've seen several applications aimed at DJs with tons of effects and transition effects like Epic DJ But that's not what I'm looking for. Really I'd just like an application that scans my folders of videos, and determines meta information similar to music. So ideally it could tell you the artist, song title, year, genres, and maybe featuring artists. Then using this application I could filter based on any of these categories to find the video in my collection. Once found I simply want to add it to a play list, maybe VLC, or Media Player Classic, or even play it itself.

I've tried writing my own application to do this and I can't help but think I'm reinventing the wheel. If nothing exists I'll be glad to invest more time developing it, but I think the hardest part for me would be to get things like genre and year of a song programatically, maybe getting it from an online database. That being said does anyone know of such a database?
