Synopsis

Toni Braxton moves through a stately English estate and its sprawling hedge maze, searching for the man she cannot let go. Dressed in a dramatic 17th-century-inspired gown, she runs, sings, and wanders through corridors of trees while memories of her relationship appear around her. Tyson Beckford plays the elusive lover, whose presence turns the maze into a visual metaphor for separation, longing, and emotional confusion. The black-and-white imagery gives the romantic drama a distinctly gothic, dreamlike atmosphere.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was filmed at Longleat House in Wiltshire, England, using the estate's famous hedge maze and surrounding grounds.

• The production was originally shot in color. Toni Braxton later explained that the maze did not look as lush as intended on color film, so the footage was changed to black and white.

• Braxton recalled that the period-style dress was heavy and that the shoot took place in very cold conditions. Her short hairstyle was extended with added hair rather than covered with a full wig.

• Tyson Beckford appears as Braxton's romantic counterpart. The video helped associate the song with the polished, fashion-conscious visual style of early-1990s R&B.

• The video won Best R&B/Urban Clip of the Year at the 1994 Billboard Music Video Awards.

• More than one edit exists. A European version and a Spanish-language version were later included on Braxton's video collection "From Toni with Love... The Video Collection."
