Factoids & Trivia

• The Go-Go's did not make a conventional, purpose-built narrative video for "We Got the Beat." As the song became a major hit, I.R.S. Records circulated an excerpt from the concert film *Totally Go-Go's* instead.

• The concert footage used for the promotion was recorded at Palos Verdes High School in California on December 4, 1981. *Totally Go-Go's* was released as a home-video concert compilation in 1982.

• The promotional clip is sometimes confused with the band's separate live performance of "We Got the Beat" from the 1981 concert film *Urgh! A Music War*. That performance was filmed at the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles and features the earlier lineup with Margot Olavarria on bass.

• The song had already appeared as a 1980 single on the British Stiff label. The version associated with the hit video was the newly recorded version made for the Go-Go's debut album, *Beauty and the Beat*.
