Synopsis

Godsmack perform "Voodoo" in a bleak cornfield while a dark ritual unfolds in and around an old stone castle. Witches carrying ceremonial swords gather around an altar, joined by eerie figures, a dancing gorgon and corpse-like beings emerging from the water. The band's performance footage is intercut with the ceremony's increasingly theatrical imagery, creating a distinctly occult atmosphere that matches the song's tribal percussion, ominous vocal delivery and supernatural themes.

• The video features Laurie Cabot, the Salem-based Wiccan high priestess, along with members of her coven.

• Much of the ritual footage was filmed at Hammond Castle in Gloucester, Massachusetts, a medieval-style landmark built in the 1920s.

• Dean Karr later said that Cabot and the other participants performed an actual ritual at the castle during filming, rather than staging every element solely for the camera.

• The video's imagery was connected to the song's original inspiration, the 1988 horror film "The Serpent and the Rainbow."

• "Voodoo" was released in 1999 as part of the promotional campaign for Godsmack's self-titled debut album.
