Synopsis

Set almost entirely in the cramped men's bathroom of a club, the video turns a drab public space into a pressure chamber. The camera moves through stalls and adjoining areas as Jürgen Engler and the band perform among restless onlookers. Its continuous movement links the musicians and the surrounding action without conventional cutting, creating a breathless sense of entrapment. The stark black-and-white setting reinforces the song's mood of alienation, disorientation and being a stranger in familiar surroundings.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was designed as a continuous one-take performance with no edits. The band had to rehearse the choreography repeatedly before filming.

• Much of the clip was shot in the black-and-white men's bathroom of Catal Huyuk, a Houston club. The location's narrow stalls and hard surfaces give the performance its deliberately claustrophobic character.

• "To the Hilt" and "Crossfire" were filmed on the same day, using two crews working inside and outside the club.

• The video became one of Die Krupps' most visible early-1990s clips, receiving heavy rotation on European MTV.

• The song appeared on the 1993 album "II - The Final Option" and was also issued as a single with several remixes, including the "Alien Club-Mix" and "Demian Mix."
