Synopsis

Bon Jovi turns a New Jersey beach town into an exuberant 1980s rock playground. The band performs "In And Out Of Love" on an outdoor stage at night while fans fill the Seaside Heights boardwalk. Daytime scenes show the musicians wandering among the arcades, shops, beach, and amusement attractions. Jon Bon Jovi hides behind a newspaper, plays guitar on the sand, and gets a playful surprise from a woman nearby, while the rest of the band take part in similarly loose, humorous vignettes.

Factoids & Trivia

  • Most of the video was filmed on the Seaside Heights boardwalk in New Jersey, with the nighttime performance staged at the Franklin Avenue stage.
  • The newspaper sequence is an affectionate nod to a similar scene in the Beatles' 1964 film "A Hard Day's Night," in which the band attempts to escape the attention of fans.
  • Several recognizable Seaside Heights businesses and locations appear in the video, including Steaks Unlimited, Lucky Leo's, Kohr's, and the boardwalk's midway attractions.
  • The spoken line near the end, "You rockin' the beach or what?", sounds like a live crowd interaction, but the performance uses the studio recording rather than a live audio track.
  • The song was released as a single from Bon Jovi's second album, "7800 Fahrenheit," in 1985. It reached No. 37 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart and No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100.
  • The official Bon Jovi archive preserves Jon Bon Jovi's shoes from the video shoot as a piece of memorabilia.
