Synopsis

Chris Young plays a gas station attendant whose routine shift becomes a parade of flirtatious encounters. Three women arrive in distinctive cars and clothing, each rendered in vivid color against the video's mostly black-and-white world. As Young fills tanks, washes windshields, checks engines, and tends to a tire, he also performs with his guitar. The playful retro setting turns everyday service into a series of romantic possibilities, before Young finishes his work, loads his guitar into his pickup, and drives away after acknowledging all three customers.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video premiered online on October 14, 2011, in support of "You," the second single from Young's album *Neon*.
  • Its visual design uses black and white for the overall setting while selectively coloring cars, clothing, and other objects. The effect gives the otherwise ordinary gas station a stylized, almost comic-book quality.
  • The production was promoted as having a 1950s-inspired look, matching the attendant uniform, classic cars, and retro service-station setting.
  • Young's character performs several practical gas-station tasks, including pumping gas, washing cars, adding air to a tire, and checking an engine.
  • "You" was Young's first music video in which he did not wear his trademark cowboy hat.
  • The song became Young's fifth consecutive No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
