Synopsis

Days of the New perform in a dark, fog-filled woodland setting while eccentric, masked figures move around them in a ritualistic, rave-like atmosphere. Travis Meeks also appears alone in vividly colored outdoor locations near the Ohio River. A mysterious red-skinned character crouches before a stained-glass window, where he seems to merge with a masked, feathered figure depicted in the glass. Meeks later plays chess with the caped figure, who replaces his mask, returns to the window, and disappears.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video uses a remixed version of "Enemy" that runs approximately 4:21 and adds more electronic effects than the album recording.

• A director's cut was also made available through Launch.com, an early online music destination.

• Most of the indoor footage was filmed at The Louisville Palace. Fans were invited to appear as extras during the August 19, 1999, shoot.

• The outdoor scenes were filmed along the Ohio River in Indiana.

• Several sequences use sped-up motion, including people passing through a revolving door and walking outside an apartment building.

• The shadowy forest performance setting echoes the visual world associated with the artwork for the band's 1999 album, commonly known as the "Green" album.

• "Enemy" became the principal hit from that album and received MTV rotation, helping Days of the New transition from the stripped-down acoustic image of their debut toward a more experimental sound.
