Synopsis
The video opens with a wealthy woman arriving by limousine at Alcatraz Island, where Klaus Meine is held in a prison cell. Guards drag him through the corridors as the rest of the Scorpions appear briefly behind bars. Meine is taken to an electric chair, while the mysterious woman oversees his apparent execution. Intercut performance footage and surreal prison imagery give the song a dark, theatrical edge before the video returns to its claustrophobic island setting.
Factoids & Trivia
- Much of the video was filmed inside the former prison on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay, making the location central to its visual identity.
- The shoot took place overnight, giving the prison interiors and surrounding bay a naturally cold, foggy atmosphere.
- The electric chair used in the video was a prop. Klaus Meine later recalled that tourists arriving the following morning mistook it for a genuine Alcatraz artifact and lined up to take photographs.
- The video helped push "No One Like You" into heavy rotation on MTV, supporting the Scorpions' breakthrough in the United States.
- "No One Like You" was released in 1982 as the lead single from the album "Blackout." The song reached No. 1 on the US Mainstream Rock chart and No. 65 on the Billboard Hot 100.
- The clip is notably centered on Klaus Meine rather than presenting the band as a conventional performance act. The other members appear mainly as prisoners or in brief performance inserts, giving the video a more narrative-driven structure.
