Review of Cry Me a River by Justin Timberlake
Director Francis Lawrence Release Date December 2002 Album Justified
This song is a haunting tale of a man whose heart has been broken but he refuses to look back. The content of the video is that of the lyrics. This song was written after his high profile break up with Britney Spears, so could she have been an inspiration for the lyrical content of this song? The video begins with Justin arriving at a house in a car, which Timbaland is driving. He then gets out and walks up to it. He throws a stone at the window to get in. The reason he wants to get into this house is because he wants to do something to make his ex-girlfriend jealous. He films himself with another girl. She then arrives, to go for a shower, and feels uncomfortable. She gets out of the shower only to find a recording of Justin with another girl playing on her TV. The video itself doesnt use a variety of lighting techniques, but it does show realism. This is because the director, Francis Lawrence, wanted to convey real life. Special effects have been used briefly during this video.
Justin himself performed the special effects in this video. This is good because it shows that he can do a lot of various things other than sing, song write and dance. The video is set in the ex-girlfriends house, because the plot of the song is about this girl.
