Here at Clipland changes are in sight. But we are still busy doing the preparation work for our Clipland v4.0 relaunch in a few weeks.
But along the road to 4.0, we'd like to give our users a first look at some features currently in development or links to new services which are still in alpha or beta stage.
Today we'd like to tell you about our Search Engine update. Fellow users since 1998 know that the search capabilites of our built-in engine are limited. So far we had no stopword filtering, spelling errors led to zero results and results were sorted alphabetically instead of by relevance.
Well, all this will change to the better, and in addition to that we will make a clean cut between the Catalog search (the search within Clipland data) and the Web search (which you might already know from the 'Matches in the Stream Database' appearing from time to time on our main search results page's bottom).
The idea behind the effort is to make finding the video you are looking for EASIER! Regardless of source and context, the next generation Clipland Search will be a media serch engine giving you the best possible matches for your queries.
A beta is currently implemented on Clipland Portal. Go over to http://portal.clipland.com/search2 and give it a test-drive. But keep in mind that the backend-database is still incomplete, in beta and work is indeed in progress.
The overall relauch and re-design of the end-user site known as Clipland.com is part of our ongoing work on the Clipland PRO bunch of professional services. The backend of the new Clipland Search is the Clipland PRO | MediaSearch engine, which will be one of the most usable and advanced video search engines on the web - once it is completed.
It has been a long way since our last Search Redesign in 2004. We hope the new functionalities will cater to the needs of our users once the launch of the new Search is official. Tell us what you think of the beta!
