The Identified sounds page is meant as a central resource for the deconstruction of popular music and film. The idea is to collect knowledge about sound bits, effects or stock sounds which were used in music or film productions and to trace them back to the original source, the instrument or recording it was produced with or sampled from. MusicWamdue Project - "King of My Castle" makes extensive use of Roland Super JV's Rhythm Bank "PR-B 2 RaveDrumSet":
Timbaland - "Ayo Technology" uses sounds of the polyphonic soundchip MOS Technology SID 6581, just as many more contemporary and chip-tune artists (i.e. Christal Castles). It's not sure if Timbaland used the real chip (as available through the Elektron SidStation), a VST/software emulator or a sampling CD like 8 Bit Stylez by Ueberschall. Related is the Timbaland plagiarism controversy Timo Maas uses the Spectrasonic "Distorted Reality Vol 1." sampling CD extensively on his 2005 album Pictures. This sound library created by Eric Persen is used in a number of productions and helps create a NIN/Quake kind of atmosphere. J.R. Rotem uses the Korg Radius "Visualizer" preset a lot (Timbaland also used it on Justin Timberlake - My Love. On Leona Lewis - better In Time, Rotem seems to have used the Korg Triton's INT-A 001 Bright Piano and INT-B 019 String Quartet. Wyclef Jean feat. Hope - Perfect Gentleman (The Stripper Song) opens with the Korg Triton Preset INT-A 003 Legato String. Music cliché samples
