Synopsis
Tha Dogg Pound's "Let's Play House" video presents a relaxed Death Row-era gathering built around nightlife, friendship, and flirtation. Kurupt and Daz appear with Michel'le, Nate Dogg, and Snoop Dogg in black-and-white scenes inside a club, where the group plays cards, drinks, and smokes. The video then shifts into color for an outdoor party, with the performers socializing and enjoying a laid-back Southern California atmosphere. DJ Pooh also makes a cameo.
Factoids & Trivia
- The video was filmed in July 1995 and released during the week ending October 27, 1995, shortly before the release of Dogg Food on October 31.
- "Let's Play House" was the second single from Dogg Food and became Tha Dogg Pound's biggest chart success, reaching the Top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100.
- The song and video bring together several important Death Row-associated artists: Michel'le, Nate Dogg, and Snoop Dogg all appear alongside Kurupt and Daz.
- The visual contrast between monochrome club footage and color party scenes gives the video a loose, documentary-like feel rather than a narrative storyline.
- The released version of the song differs substantially from an earlier recording that included Warren G, a different intro, alternate lyrics, and additional guest contributions. That original version was eventually issued on the 2012 compilation Doggy Bag.
