Synopsis
Sir Mix-A-Lot and his crew cruise through Seattle in a black Mercedes limousine, moving from the South End and Central District toward Capitol Hill. Along the way, they pick up friends, attract attention, and turn the streets into a rolling party. The night builds toward a stop at a neighborhood burger joint, where the posse encounters a rival crew and settles the challenge with swagger, dancing, and classic late-1980s Seattle hip-hop energy.
Factoids & Trivia
- The video was filmed on location around Seattle, featuring areas including the South End, Central District, and Capitol Hill rather than using a generic studio setting.
- Although the song mentions Dick's Drive-In on Broadway, the restaurant reportedly refused permission to film there. The burger-joint scenes were instead shot at Stan's, near Rainier Avenue South and South Dearborn Street.
- The video helped present Seattle as a distinct hip-hop city at a time when national attention was focused mainly on New York, Los Angeles, and the South.
- The black Mercedes limousine became one of the video's most recognizable visual details. More than two decades later, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis used a similar limousine image in a Seattle video that paid tribute to Sir Mix-A-Lot's local classic.
- The video includes appearances by Seattle hip-hop figures Kid Sensation and Maharaji, reinforcing its connection to the city's early rap scene.
