Synopsis
Mylene Farmer floats above New York on a cloud as the city descends into a surreal foam-filled apocalypse. The Statue of Liberty, skyscrapers, and the surrounding streets are gradually engulfed, while Farmer watches the chaos with amused detachment and relaxes in the bubbles. Her playful, heavily stylized performance contrasts with the disaster below, turning the end of the world into a bizarre spectacle. The video closes on survivors moving toward the horizon, suggesting that destruction may also clear the way for a new beginning.
Factoids & Trivia
- The video was filmed in Los Angeles and New York over three days. One day was devoted to Farmer, while the other two involved the extras and large-scale city scenes.
- The New York shoot took place in February in freezing conditions, reportedly around -10 degrees Celsius. Farmer was filmed in foam as though she were enjoying a tropical bath.
- The production reportedly cost approximately 80,000 euros, a substantial budget for a French pop video of the period.
- Farmer's small towel was designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier.
- Farmer associated the overflowing foam with the atmosphere of parties in Ibiza.
- A separate early edit featured only Farmer and included shots that were not used in the final broadcast version. It premiered on French television on December 17, 1995.
- The foam has been interpreted both as a sensual image and as a symbolic cleansing before a fresh start.
- The song became the most successful single from the album "Anamorphosee," reaching No. 6 in France.
- Photographs taken during the shoot were later slightly retouched and used for the cover of The Third Eye Foundation's 2001 album "I Poo Poo on Your Juju."
