Synopsis
Los Pericos perform "Sin Cadenas" while the video follows boxer Jorge "Karateca" Medina through a stark portrait of struggle and renewal. Training sessions, ring imagery, running scenes and moments from his troubled past connect the song's message of freedom with Medina's attempt to rebuild his life through boxing. The clip moves between the band's performance and Medina's personal story, giving the reggae track a documentary-like edge rather than presenting a conventional performance video.
Factoids & Trivia
- The video was made in 1998 as the first single from *Mystic Love*, released on November 27 of that year.
- Jorge "Karateca" Medina appears as himself. At the time, the former professional boxer was seeking a new start through training after years marked by addiction, crime and imprisonment.
- Medina's life was central to the concept of the clip. Contemporary coverage described him as seeing his own story reflected on screen for the first time.
- Some scenes show Medina running near the Palermo lakes and being chased by police, linking the song's theme of breaking free with episodes from his past.
- The song later became associated with *Botin de guerra*, the 1999 documentary about the work of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo. Los Pericos also performed it for the film's concert sequence.
