Synopsis

Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz turn their Bronx pride into a full-scale stadium celebration. Performing before a roaring crowd, the duo delivers their regional roll call while surrounded by New York imagery, Yankees-branded clothing, and the spectacle of a live sporting event. The video presents "Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)" as both a hometown anthem and a statement of borough identity, using large-scale staging and energetic camera movement to match the track's confident, chant-driven hook.

Factoids & Trivia

• Although the song celebrates the Bronx, the video was filmed at Shea Stadium in Queens, the former home of the New York Mets. The location creates an amusing mismatch between the track's Bronx-centered message and its distinctly Queens setting.

• A sweeping 360-degree camera move is one of the video's most noticeable visual touches, helping give the relatively straightforward performance clip a bigger, more cinematic scale.

• The track's production combines a prominent sample from Steely Dan's "Black Cow" with elements from Jerry Rivera's "Amores Como El Nuestro." The Steely Dan clearance deal reportedly took a substantial advance and all of the song's publishing, making the hit financially complicated for the duo.

• "Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)" became Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz's signature record, reaching No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning platinum certification in the United States.

• The duo split in 1999, and their debut album, *Make It Reign*, remained their only studio album. As a result, the video stands as a document of a short-lived but highly visible moment in late-1990s New York rap.
