Synopsis

In a playful science-fiction setup, the Jungle Brothers appear in and around a laboratory where a cloning experiment is underway. The video mixes performance footage with images of scientists, equipment, and duplicated bodies, turning the group's "true blue brother" identity into a literal visual joke. Its fast-cut editing and eccentric lab imagery match the track's hip-hop and drum-and-bass hybrid, giving the 1997-98 comeback single a deliberately chaotic, futuristic presentation.

Factoids & Trivia

• "Jungle Brother" originally appeared on the Jungle Brothers' 1997 album *Raw Deluxe* as "Jungle Brother (True Blue)."

• The better-known version was the Urban Takeover remix by Aphrodite and Micky Finn. It recast the track as a jump-up drum-and-bass record while retaining the group's original rap vocals.

• The remix was first issued in Europe in 1997 and later became associated with the name Jungle Brothers vs. Aphrodite.

• The single reached No. 18 on the UK singles chart in 1998, giving the group one of its most visible late-1990s chart moments.

• The cloning-laboratory concept proved especially useful for the *Senseless* soundtrack campaign. The 1998 Marlon Wayans comedy also revolves around a medical experiment, and contemporary trade coverage noted the similarity between the video and the film's laboratory setting.

• "Jungle Brother (True Blue)" was included on the *Senseless* soundtrack, released by Gee Street Records on February 10, 1998.

• The song's fusion of rap and jungle reflected the Jungle Brothers' long-standing connection to dance music. They had already helped bridge hip-hop and house on "I'll House You" in 1988.
